Stage profile:
The fourth stage of the Tour of Romania brings a spectacular transition from the heart of the mountains to the plains, along the route between Brașov and Ploiești. After the challenges of the previous stage, the peloton enters a day where speed and strategy will make the difference.
With a distance of approximately 165 km, the route descends from the mountain zone southward, following the direction of the Telejanului Valley, a natural corridor connecting Transylvania to Wallachia. The profile favors a high pace, with descending sections and fast stretches that can benefit sprinters’ teams and well-organized pelotons.
After the start in Brașov, a city with a strong cultural-historical identity and cycling tradition, the race unfolds on a route that combines mountain zones with openings toward gentler terrain, offering opportunities for breakaways as well as for peloton regroupings.
As it approaches Ploiești, the stage becomes increasingly fast, and the finish is ideal for a mass sprint, where positioning and coordination will be decisive. It is a stage where general classification gaps can be protected or consolidated, and also one where sprinters can claim their place in the spotlight.
A stage of speed, control and perfect execution — where every second counts and where the finish can be decided in a fraction of a moment.
