The third stage of the Tour of Romania marks the entry into the mountain zone and brings the first great endurance test of the competition, on a demanding route between Piatra Neamț and Băile Balvanyos.
At approximately 200 km, this is one of the longest and most difficult stages of the tour, where the elevation gains and succession of climbs will test both the endurance and the strategy of the teams. The routes in this area are known for their varied profile, with consistent climbing sections and technical descents that can fragment the peloton.
As the race advances toward the Covasna area, the pace becomes increasingly selective, and teams will try to control breakaways or prepare decisive attacks. It is a stage where climbers can make their presence felt, and the gaps in the general classification can become significant.
The finish at Băile Balvanyos provides a spectacular backdrop, as well as a possible sprint finish, after a day in which every kilometer counts. It is the moment when the Tour of Romania steps up to the next level — from pace and tactics, to pure endurance and determination.
