Stage profile:
The second stage of the Tour of Romania moves the action to the heart of Moldova, on a spectacular route between Iași and Piatra Neamț, where the landscape becomes increasingly dynamic and the race gains depth.
With a length of approximately 150 km, the stage offers a varied profile, with flat sections that favour speed, as well as rolling sectors that can break the peloton’s rhythm and create significant time gaps. The route follows the general direction of Iași – Piatra Neamț, a course known for its alternation between open areas and more fragmented terrain.
As the cyclists approach Piatra Neamț, the terrain becomes increasingly demanding, offering opportunities for late attacks and for teams looking to force a selection before the finish. It is a stage where strategy matters just as much as strength, and well-timed breakaways can make all the difference.
The finish promises excitement, whether in a reduced sprint or a duel among the strongest climbers remaining at the front. After a first day of settling in, the second stage is the moment when the general classification ambitions and hierarchies truly begin to take shape.
A stage that combines pace, tactics, and determination — and one that brings the Tour of Romania closer to its very essence: the constant fight for every second.
